MBR是指膜生物反应器，由膜分离组件和生物反应器组成。膜组件置于生物反应器内部，为一体式设备。有机废物通过预处理后，在生物反应器内不断地通过微生物降解。而在负压作用下，膜丝外面的原水中的液体透过膜，进入膜丝内部的中空部分，成为系统处理水；而固形物、大分子物质等则被膜截留，随浓缩液回流到生物反应器内。

However, the solids and macromolecules are trapped in the membrane, and the concentrate is returned to the bioreactor.
